2021 - 2022

2021 was a whirlwind of emotions.

I started a small business out of my home kitchen and felt like I was on top of the world! I was fulfilling several different cookie orders while balancing my day time job as an RN. I had embarked on a journey of make 100 cookies in 365 days using the book of the same name 100 Cookies written by Sarah Kieffer. I did not accomplish this feat, but it doesn't mean I failed. From the recipes I did make I was able to learn a lot about what I liked and what I didn't; I also took a lot of tips and tricks to improve my own baking.

Things quickly took a turn for the worse toward the end of 2021 - another driver ran a red light and T-boned my car, I felt lost in my career and anxious about COVID-19, and I lost my biggest supporter and cookie taste tester, my beloved Avô (grandfather). They say life likes to throw you curveballs. In these moments, I felt as though I had been pelted with those baseballs over and over and over again.

Regardless, I persisted. I knew I had to keep moving forward and make my Avô proud. 2022 was going to be my year, and I had to look at the positives in my life. Pear Tree Cookies turned one years old in April 2022, I found a day job that I absolutely adore and finally found my place in school nursing, and I was balancing all this with my family, friends (and new puppy) to support me along the way. I have truly felt the love and encouragement from those around me this year, especially my loyal customers!

As for what's next? Launching this new website and a brand new menu! Look out for plenty of new things coming up, including new recipes, pricing, flavors, and more!

Thank you so much for joining me on this journey thus far, and I look forward to seeing where 2023 will take us in the new year. Stay tuned.
